Nate Nelson - EgoRager

Nathan C. Nelson, aka “EgoRager” was born in Carlisle, PA on March 30, 1978 and departed us on March 26, 2008. He resided in Columbus, OH.

Nathan C. Nelson, 29, of Columbus, OH and formerly of Carlisle, PA passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at his home in Columbus, OH.

Nate was born March 30, 1978 in Carlisle, PA the son of Charles E. and Deborah L. (Price) Nelson of Carlisle.

At the time of his passing, Nate was a Computer Program Supervisor with Safe Auto in Columbus, OH. He is a former graduate of Big Spring High School, Class of 1996 and of DeVry University, Columbus, OH. Nathan also served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He is survived in addition to his parents by his maternal grandmother, Rena Hughes of York Haven; one sister, Nikki L. Delp and her husband Steve of Mechanicsburg; two nephews, Brody L. and Kaleb I. Delp, both of Mechanicsburg; and his aunts and uncles Mary and John Fourlas, Cindy and Fred Anderson and Carl and Kathy Hughes, and by his numerous band of Ego brethren.

Thoughout his gaming career at TeamEgo, Nate “EgoRager” was a key member. Among the games he played with TeamEgo and Mortis Consortium were CyberStrike, Tanarus, Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft and Vanguard. Not only was Nate’s gaming and leadership skill valued by his TeamEgo brothers and sisters, his knowledge as a gamer and programmer also gave insight to numerous game developers over the years. Nate spent many hours with game developers playing games with them in beta, engaging them in in-depth conversations about theoretical, technical and gameplay issues to assist them in game development.

While Nate may have been one of the more influential gamers around because of the high regard he shared with the world’s foremost gaming developers, he was hardly the nerdy, technical wonk some might suppose. Nate was nothing if not fun to play and chat with while gaming. While he probably understood the games he played at a level of depth not familiar to those he played with, he valued everyone’s perspective and knew that the one factor common in every successful game and gamer was fun. And Nate certainly knew how to have fun.

Nate “EgoRager” Nelson will be missed by all of us. His legacy as a gamer, technical advisor, and most importantly, as a friend, will be felt for many years to come by his brothers and sisters at TeamEgo and Mortis Consortium. We will never forget him. We will always love him.

Peace out, bro.
